The Jain Community of Chennai, with a strong sense of social concern and a passion for rendering service has set up the Shree Chandraprabhu Jain College at Minjur in 1997, the Golden Jubilee year of India’s Independence. Our guiding principles are Non-violence (Ahimsa) and Vegetarianism. The College was established by Shree Chandraprabhu Jain Educational Foundation which is affiliated to the University of Madras. The College is being managed by the Jain Minority Institution abiding the meaning of Articles 29 and 30 of the Indian Constitution. 

The College started to function from Vijayadasami Day on 11.10.1997. Initially it was started as Men’s college with 4 UG courses. From 2002-03, it has become Co-Educational college admitting women students also to encourage women education. Currently our college offers 11 UG Courses and 2 PG Courses. The Management believes that precise knowledge is the basic requirement for existence of right human being. 

Location

The College is situated in an ideal location, far away from the commotion, pollution and din of the city, but well within the bounds of Chennai Metro, less than half a kilometer to the North-East of Minjur Railway Station. Our sprawling campus, playgrounds, green lawns, landscape and saplings of several species with bushes and shrubs, sporting their blooms of all colours along with the architecture are the landmark of radiance. Our Building complex has a total built – up area of over one lakh Sq.ft. with all amenities from basic to modern. At present, our Library has a total Collection of over 12,000 books apart from magazines and journals covering all subjects. Our State of the Art Computer Laboratory is fully Air-conditioned. We also have a standby generator of 125 KVA & another 63.5 KVA Capacity for uninterrupted power supply. 

The College provides excellent coaching and training by well qualified, devoted and experienced Teaching staff. There are excellent facilities for academic work as well as for Gymnastics/Games/Sports and many extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Special provision has been made fascinated for Personality Development Programmes like Karuna Club, YRC, NSS, Karate, Yoga, Career Oriented Courses, etc, to students with keen interest. The College also organizes Guest lectures and Audio-video presentations. Apart from this, the college conducts Seminars and Conferences for all the faculties to develop and inculcate them for a richer experience. Skill development programmes & Certificate / Diploma programmes (which can be simultaneously learnt) are also offered to secure employment easily during campus selection.
